This 1978 Illinois license plate came off Walter Payton’s PERSONAL car in 1978 and says WP 34 Land of Lincoln. This is not his Liver Donor special plates. In the 1970s, Payton had a contract with the Chicagoland Buick Dealer’s Association. Every October, Buick would provide him with a new car. My mom saw the plate and asked to keep it. The following February at the Chicago Auto Show, my grandfather met Payton and asked for his permission to keep the plate. Payton agreed and autographed it Sweetness Walter Payton. The plate was then PSA authenticated. Also included: a flyer from the 1979 auto show showing Payton standing in front of a Buick with “WP 34″ plates.
