PROBABLY the greatest comic book artist of all time! STERANKO swept in like a breeze of cool fresh air when he strolled into Marvel’s offices to meet STAN LEE. Recognizing Jim’s greatness, Lee offered him any Marvel totlr he wanted to do, including Spider-man or FF. NICK FURY agent of SHIELD. Jim said he’d do that one & changed comic book history with his innovations + style. Jim Steranko: “Comixscene #1″ Nov-Dec. 1972 tabloid magazine/fanzine published & edited by Steranko AUTOGRAPHED to me, HAND SIGNED in-person at the Detroit Triple Fan Fair, where he was promoting the debut of this new venture (I also interviewed him on cassette tape, which is buried somewhere here in the archives & some day I’ll transfer it to cd, IF it’ll still even play). By the way, he was very nice & accommodating when I talked to him, especially about Stan Lee & Marvel. NOTE: AS A BONUS, I’ll include a full-page color painting (clipping from Penthouse magazine) of a Marvel characters collage he did that I’ve never seen anywhere else! Scans: #2: Cover (with autograph), #3: fuller view of cover, #4 Steranko Doc Savage artwork, #4:5Steranko Thongor artwork, which was another looming project at that time, #5 = DOC SAVAGE, Steranko style! #1= Marvel painting free bonus, from OUI adult magazine so there IS a nude shot of ROBERTA PEDON on back! . Condition is VG+ (very slight wear) & folded in half, because that’s how I bought it & carried it around at the convention. Otherwise clean no writing, tape, labels, etc. See scans, except for autograph, inscribed to me.
