Saburo Sakai visited my father (Steve) at his CollectAir Art Gallery in San Jose, California on many occasions to attend Gallery functions or local events, sign prints, books, and photographs for my father. Sakai was always very humble and gracious as I recall, and the relationship between my father and Mr. Sakai grew into a fond friendship over the years. I have uploaded a photo of my father Steve and Saburo Sakai during one of many signings at the CollectAir Gallery as evidence of this passionate adventure into the friendship between two men to preserve and share the history of WWII. Winged Samurai: Saburo Sakai and the Zero Fighter Pilots is a 1985 book by Henry Sakaida dealing with the wartime history of Sabur Sakai and other Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service pilots who flew the Mitsubishi A6M Zero. It was published by Champlin Fighter Museum Press. This book, Winged Samurai, Signed by Saburo Sakai, was obtained in-person at CollectAir. The book is in “like new” condition with a bold signature.
