This is an historic treasure. Much more than just an autograph. Autographed Book “CHARLES LAUGHTON AND I” by Elsa Lanchester. Besides an eloquent example of the world famous actress’s handwriting, this book has quite a history. It is inscribed “To Harry Scott Elsa Lanchester” in fountain pen. SO, after lots of research, I found documentation of a Harold Scott who was a close friend, fellow actor and business partner of Elsa’s in the 1920s. They were both active in theater and nightclubs in England for years, before Elsa took off for Hollywood. The book was written in 1938 and I believe it was the personal property of Harold Scott, presented to him, from Elsa. I have collected Elsa’s autograph over the years, being a long time,’Bride of Frankenstein’, horror movie fan, and this autograph “reeks” of precision, friendship and personal feelings given to Mr. Not written in a hurry, on a scrap piece of paper, like other autographs may be, but handled and thought out with feelings and love. I would venture to say that this is a perfect signature of Elsa’s, in my opinion. Harry Scott is mentioned a few times in the first 46 pages, as well as a few old photos of him and Elsa together, early in the book. I was ecstatic upon this discovery!! I think you will be excited, too! You are getting a wonderful and fun book, written by Elsa Lanchester. The, tongue-in-cheek, Introduction is by Charles Laughton and the Inscription is personally addressed to her early career friend and companion. This is a one of a kind rarity in the world of Memorabilia. Don’t be fooled into spending Four or Five Hundred Dollars on a fake scribble. The title is “Charles Laughton and I”. Appx 6″x9″ Over 270 pages. This item can not be replaced. It is the only one! A perfect book marker! Yes, it is expensive, but I will work with a decent offer. Thank you for looking.
